Date:

Murder victim Jennifer Dornan

Jennifer Dornan’s mother said she is glad the “predator” who killed her daughter is now behind bars and facing a long sentence.

Teresa Donnelly, who is now a guardian to the children of her three daughters, Martin, 15-year-old Jayden, 13-year-old and 10-year-old Abby, said the law had finally been enforced.

He also revealed that his beloved and missing daughter was a handsome and lovable man.

Teresa added: “Jennifer was such a wonderful and beautiful human being. She was so caring, she was the best daughter to me and the best mother to her three children.

“She was the funniest, friendliest girl I’ve ever met. He would brighten up a dull, boring day—that was all he had.”

“We have a lot of pictures of Jennifer, but I find it hard to watch. When I see her picture I see blood and think about the pain. “She must have suffered so much and was afraid, which is what I can’t stop thinking.”

Having said that the past seven years since her daughter’s death have been a “nightmare,” Ms Donnelly said: “I don’t want anyone to experience what we have.”

West Belfast man Raymond O’Neill was sentenced to life in prison Friday after being found guilty of killing Jennifer.

Despite her innocence being proven, the jury concluded that 47-year-old O’Neill followed Jennifer, 30, to her home in Hazel View on Sunday morning, August 2, 2015.

There he stabbed her three times before setting the house on fire.

After her conviction, Teresa also revealed that the eight-week trial had been “challenging”.

Teresa said: “My daughter Claire and I do not sleep well and do not eat properly after the trial.

“I sit in court and listen to what I hear… I don’t understand how you can do what someone else has done.

“O’Neill is a predator who preys on girls. I’m so glad he’s going to be in prison for so long because I honestly think he’ll do it again.

“I will never forgive him for what he did to my Jennifer and I will leave three children without mothers.”
