A man in his 20s has been taken to hospital after being assaulted and robbed of a “man in four masks” in Derry.
City investigators are investigating an incident in Chandlow on Monday at 12:30.
The victim is known to have been walking to Carharan Pine from Earhart Park.
About four masked men reportedly assaulted and punched the victim in the face and punched him in the arm.
Residents reportedly harassed the attackers, who fled to Cornish Fields with money and the victim’s phone. The incident was reported to the authorities at 1:15 am.
Detective Inspector Laver said, “It was a brutal attack in which the victim was taken to hospital with injuries to his hands and face. We are continuing our investigation this morning to determine who was involved, who was involved and why.” We would like to hear from all residents who were harassed by the attackers and who were at Carabana Wave from 00:20 to 12:35 and that they may have noticed suspicious activity.
