The SPÖ does not want to have confidence in the government and reject it. It makes you yawn! The inflationary introduction of motions of no confidence is boring and makes politics ridiculous. Can’t the opposition parties come up with something new?
Of course, the federal government could make more progress than it is doing now. It is clear to everyone that the sky is no longer turquoise green and that this constellation will probably no longer exist soon. But filing what feels like the hundredth no-confidence motion doesn’t thicken matters either. Above all, it achieves nothing anyway and the government remains in power!
The government will remain in power anyway
Because dismissing the government requires a majority in parliament. The reasoning is too “weird” for NEOS. And even though the Blues have pledged their support at the last minute, that won’t be enough. Turquoise green will therefore remain in function anyway. Then why all the fuss when there is nothing but excitement?
It’s about the cheap head
It is not so much about bringing about new elections, but about political change in the form of attention. The SPÖ clearly does not currently know how else to score points with its issues and is therefore following the course of fundamental opposition. Of course you can call for the resignation of the government, at least it makes cheap headlines. But an embarrassing aftertaste is left if nothing happens afterwards due to the lack of a majority and the government muddles through.
Voters certainly don’t appreciate Foppen
This does not provide a weak basis for politics as a whole. Who can still believe in the seriousness of such applications? Fooling voters alienates and promotes the already widespread disillusionment with politics. The voter is not stupid – he knows that the proposal has no chance – and will certainly not approve of such a game…
Serious opposition politics is tough, but…
Of course, a serious opposition policy with meaningful content that affects the Austrians is a much more difficult matter than quickly firing a vote of no confidence. But no one said opposition would be easy.
