What actually still works in this country?

Date:

Vaccines, medicines and nurses are lacking, there is no more talk of the Climate Protection Act and only alcohol or psychotropic medicines help against inflation. Given the current creaks and crashes in our country, one can ask the question: what actually still works in this country?

Political memory is clearly short because we have learned nothing from past crises. According to the motto ‘Out of sight, out of mind’, even the toughest times seem completely forgotten. The best example of this is the corona pandemic…

That could have been done better beforehand
Because right now – at a time when the virus is spreading again – medicines and flu vaccines are scarce in many places. The logistics had failed, the allocation to the pharmacies was chaotic, and now – at a time when everyone is sick – it has to be laboriously adjusted and redistributed. However, this could have been done smartly in advance based on the experiences of the last, painful Corona years. Now valuable time is being lost again while Austria has a cold and is ill.

No action necessary
And speaking of health: there is another bottleneck with doctors and nurses: you can wait months before you get an appointment with a statutory health insurer. This problem did not arise overnight either. Rather, we have a problem with young talent, distribution and remuneration! If only 15 percent of medical students take out health insurance, you don’t have to be a mathematician to recognize a bottleneck effect. However, this is not an urgent need for political action.

The one-off payments have long been used up
Another example is inflation. There has been war on European soil for almost two years, fueling record inflation. Effective measures across the board to absorb the ever-increasing prices? No. Even in each of our neighboring countries, prices for food, for example, are lower. Dear politicians: The one-off payments are long gone!

Let’s get used to the construction sites
You have the feeling that things are cracking in our country. This is largely your own fault if you don’t want to learn from the past and make long-term plans. The upcoming election campaign is unlikely to improve the focus on a prosperous future. For the time being, we can get used to the many construction sites.
