If a politician complains again that trust in you is completely wrong, then the speech of the SPÖ district council may be presented to him. Calling critics “Heisln” and then crying that you are no longer respected as a member of parliament – you can do no more mimimi. Dear politicians, it is your own fault for the lack of confidence!
First of all: of course the “Heisl” saying is not the end of the world and the term is not a reason for a hundred days of rainy weather. This traditional Viennese paraphrase for an unloved fellow was even a slap on the thigh at the Viennese State Party Conference of the SPÖ! Yet the following should be in every politician’s family book…
Politicians are only people
We all know that politicians are just people like you and me. With errors, corners and edges, even a light-hearted remark has to be forgiven, because no one is perfect. However, it must also be made clear that it is not appropriate for a representative of our citizens to insult a competitor. There are other ways of saying: I think differently!
Red people can only laugh about that…
In this regard, the remark of the Red District Councilor Ernst Nevrivy that all opponents of the Lobau tunnel construction project are “Heisln” is a clumsy misconception. The brashness can make a red wine or two smile, but in reality it is only characteristic of the wearer himself. Anyone who has to offend critics probably has thin skin of their own. There is no other way to explain the derailment.
Van Heisln and Gsindl
Above all, it is absurd that the SPÖ, of all people, is so amused by the “Heisl” Sager. Wasn’t that the party so outraged by the equally unflattering term “red rascals” in one of the thousands of turquoise text messages? Nobody is going to measure with double standards…
We want politicians and not beer amateurs!
It doesn’t matter whether it’s Heisl or Gsindl: to any outsider, this is yet another proof of how things work in politics. No wonder trust in those responsible is so low. Because: the office of politician is an office of dignity. We also need representatives who meet this requirement. And no beer tent animators burping something off the stage for a cheap laugh.
