Some people in government are looking for new jobs. Some of these will become available from the Financial Markets Supervisory Authority and the National Bank.
In just two weeks he could win the title of ‘brave unlucky man of the year’: Florian Tursky has given up the pleasant job of State Secretary for Digitalization to run for mayor of Innsbruck. His chances of becoming head of the state capital are intact, but not exactly great. He is running against the populist green politician and mayor Georg Willi, against a traditionally strong FPÖ and a spin-off of the ÖVP. They have a tradition in Innsbruck; the proximity to Italy is less noticed in the cuisine of the Tyrolean capital than in the party fragmentation.
On the other hand, who knows what would have happened to Tursky after the National Council elections? One thing is certain: there will probably be fewer ÖVP members in the government. So it’s no wonder that so many ministers are looking for a new job. This also applies to the most popular ÖVP government member.
