A twelve-year-old girl in Vienna is passed from one person to another like an object by more than a dozen young people over a period of weeks. The two cases that have been handled by the Public Prosecution Service so far each ended in a final acquittal. Apparently a loophole in the law.
Anyone who followed the second trial in the terrible case of Anna (12) in Landl, Vienna, can probably still understand the acquittal of the 17-year-old Syrian on charges of rape, which has been final since Friday – especially because it violence was necessary for a conviction during oral sex in a parking garage in Vienna – Favorites were not demonstrable.
But what is absolutely incomprehensible is that apparently no other criminal offense can be used in the disturbing case. The child was only twelve years old when more than a dozen teenagers sexually abused him. The 17-year-old, who was acquitted on Tuesday, said “no” several times before he could “persuade” her to perform the sex act.
The court expert confirmed that the girl had an ‘ego weakness’ – which was apparently shamelessly exploited by the much older boys. They passed their victim to each other like an object. At the same time, they made fun of the child in very derogatory conversations. A typical scene during the trial was when the Syrian slapped 100 euros on the table of the girl’s lawyer – as “compensation”.
Domestic politicians are too busy with themselves and – unlike the Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs – have not yet commented on this legal loophole. About the Austrian Anna case, he wrote: “We and the legal system must do everything we can to protect children from such ‘tenderness’.”
