In August last year, a 29-year-old stabbed his girlfriend in the apartment they shared in the St. Pölten district after an argument. He pleaded guilty at trial to attempted murder – 15 years in prison!
“He knew what he was doing,” the young woman says calmly. The 19-year-old will probably never forget August 20 of the previous year. Today, she still suffers physically and mentally from the consequences of the terrible crime. Because her then boyfriend had treacherously stabbed her from behind in the apartment they shared in Traismauer in Lower Austria.
With a 27 centimeter long knife that he had earlier taken from the kitchen and placed on the game console under the television. “I didn’t think anything of it. “He did a lot of strange things,” the victim now describes in the court in St. Pölten.
There have often been arguments about excessive alcohol consumption. This time the situation escalated. “I smelled his flag again. “Then I stopped,” the 19-year-old explains. When she wanted to leave the apartment, the 29-year-old attacked his girlfriend from behind.
“First I felt a push, then I saw the blood,” she remembers. With the knife in her back, she managed to escape to the neighbors, seriously injured. The knife had penetrated 18 centimeters deep into the flesh and injured the liver, kidneys, diaphragm and chest. The perpetrator then called the police himself.
Expert diagnoses mental disorder
In court, the man, who had been convicted several times before, pleaded guilty to attempted murder. A “misfire” with 2.7 per mille and under the influence of drugs was the cause of the bloody attack. “When I’m sober, I’m the most normal person,” said the suspect. Admission was necessary due to the 29-year-old’s personality and behavioral disorder. Ultimately, the suspect was sentenced to 15 years in prison, including compensation for pain and suffering of approximately 11,000 euros.
Although he was declared mentally healthy at the time of the crime, he was admitted to a forensic therapeutic center due to his serious mental disorder. The judgment is final.
