The government of Spain will validate the energy saving decree this afternoon after gathering sufficient support

The PNV and EH Bildu will vote in favour, and the ERC will not oppose a plan that the PP, Vox and Ciudadanos do reject.

The plenary session of Congress this afternoon will energy saving decree lawas the government of Spain is counting on its investiture and budget partners to overcome the rejection announced by PP, Vox and Ciudadanos.

Despite reaching the week of processing without tied support, the Executive has already confirmed the positive vote of the PNV, EH Bildu, Más País-Equo, Compromís and the PRC, and has guarantees that the Esquerra Republicana will not oppose its validation.

The GDP has announced in recent hours to vote for “responsibility”.

Also EH Picture has announced that it will vote in favor of the energy saving decree. As explained by the formation, it has negotiated an “upward revision” of the objectives of the Climate Change Act in 2023 and has agreed with the government of Spain on the revision, reformulation and acceleration of these objectives, in order to achieve the ambition of the same and achieve this in a shorter time, with the necessary investments.

The one the government can’t count on is the PP, Vox and Burgerswho have already brought forward their vote, despite recognizing several measures as positive.

The Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, Rachel Sanchezhas urged the PP to reconsider its refusal to support the energy-saving plan “because they are in time not to disappoint the Spaniards”, while criticizing “retrograde and denial conservatism” in Spain.

From the PP, its spokesperson in Congress, Cuca Gamarrahas criticized the government for imposing its criteria in a “unilateral” way, through measures it has described as “patches” that will have medium and long-term consequences for Spanish society.

For his part, the chairman of Vox, Santiago Abascalannounced this Thursday that his party will appeal to the Constitutional Court against the decree-law containing energy-saving measures, which it believes violate the rights of Spaniards.
