Causa “Wien Energie” – breakfast: “SPÖ carries out child removal”

For VP club chairman Roland Breakfast, the cause is a crystal clear SPÖ scandal. He has no pity for the red party leadership’s ducking: “The SPÖ would do well to put the facts on the table instead of blaming everyone for Wien Energie’s financial disaster in confused sweepstakes, just not itself! “

“Hard to beat for shyness”
It was “barely embarrassing” that the Viennese SPÖ leadership had entrenched itself behind the energy supplier’s management rather than contacting the federal government directly. The fact that Mayor Michael Ludwig (SPÖ) would have given Wien Energie 1.4 billion euros without the approval of the state parliament was also outrageous. In this regard, Frühstück also wonders about the role of coalition partner Neos, who has obviously accepted this approach.

Breakfast rules out the possibility that the local Illwerke VPP could find itself in a similar imbalance: “From the current perspective, that is simply not the case: Wien Energie is the only energy supplier that buys and sells electricity so intensively through the sold exchange, while others states rely significantly more on bilateral contracts and most also produce much more electricity than Wien Energie.”

And of course, in the light of the “Wien Energie” case, breakfast is undeniable to put his party’s numerous scandals into perspective: he recommends that the “supreme inspectors in the National Council” examine the inconsistencies in the Viennese energy supplier with the same verve as in those underground committees directed against the ÖVP.

After all, two million customers would be affected by the impact, so the reach is much more dramatic than “other incidents where the likelihood of a scandal is significantly reduced or even talked about”.
