Surprising Turnaround:- Lech’s Community Gathering Without Livestream Was Legal

Date:

The Bludenz district council agrees with the mayor of Lech, Gerhard Lucian, and approves the last city council meeting without a livestream – despite another municipal decision. The opposition is puzzled by the authority’s reasoning.

The decision of the district administration on the legality of the last meeting of the community representatives in Lech in early August was eagerly awaited. As reported, the livestream failed at the time, but Mayor Lucian wanted to hold the meeting anyway. The lists ‘Ons Dorp’ and ‘Dare to the Future’ then left the meeting room in protest and filed a complaint with the regulator. The meeting then continued without the community representatives.

What does evaluation refer to?
Now the decision of the bra is available. As Mayor Lucian announced on a broadcast, the authority found the mayor’s actions legal. The authority’s reasoning caused a stir in the community. This interprets the decision to livestream community gatherings as limited to six months. The municipal decision of 25 January 2021 actually reads about an evaluation after six months. However, the opposition relates this to the technical implementation by a specific company, not to the live stream itself.

In addition, the two lists were reprimanded by the BH for leaving the meeting. In any case, a recent statement on “Our Village”‘s list “clearly advocates continuing the live stream”.

Room for interpretation is increasing
The livestream will now show how mayor Lucian interprets the decision taken at the time. In the broadcast, Lucian and Deputy Mayor Cornelia Rieser explain that the livestream has so far “also been misused for party and populist purposes”. Whether a future perspective for the livestream can be read from this?
