Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg (ÖVP) has signed the register of condolences on behalf of the federal government, published by the British embassy in Vienna on the occasion of the death of Queen Elizabeth II. In his tribute, the minister described the late monarch as “an unshakable force in a turbulent world”.
He specifically praised the Queen’s “generosity, sense of humor and lifelong dedication” to her public office.

“She was an unwavering force in a turbulent world. For more than 70 years, she brought nations, generations and people together like no other personality of her time,” Schallenberg wrote Monday, according to his ministry.
And further: “On behalf of the Government of Austria and on my behalf, I would like to express my sincere condolences and my deepest condolences on the passing of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.”
