Christian Stocker was discussed several times as secretary general. Now the Chancellor’s lawyer and preferred candidate has agreed.
He was often discussed as ÖVP Secretary General. Christian Stocker from Wiener Neustadt, however, always turned down the offer. The reason was his multiple burden. In addition to his job as Deputy Mayor and Member of Parliament, Stocker is also a lawyer. Stocker’s daughter does not yet have the necessary professional experience to run the law firm. A temporary solution for two years was found here.
Lopatka and Hanger were talking
As it was more than uncertain whether Stocker could organize a model, ÖVP veteran Reinhold Lopatka is said to have been in talks as secretary general. Lopatka would have enough experience. The model was the Styrian model, in which the experienced Werner Amon was brought in as a county councilor.
One condition was that the secretary-general had a mandate in parliament. ÖVP leader Karl Nehammer went through the list of MPs. Many did not offer it. Andreas Hanger took himself out of the game. In the end, Nehammer was able to fix his favorite candidate.
