Presidential elections – 49% find election campaigns bizarre, 28% boring

Date:

Austria’s unflattering testimony to the federal presidential election campaign: “In an online poll of more than 7,000 people commissioned by Puls 4, 49 percent of those polled rated the candidates’ appearance as ‘bizarre’. The second highest mention (multiple answers were not allowed) was ‘boring’ – that says enough,” pollster Christoph Haselmayer (IFDD) said in an interview with Gerhard Koller.

Whether it’s the stories of Alexander Van der Bellen’s dog “July”, Gerald Grosz’s social media clips, some of which are original in behavior, or one or two memorable quotes from Heinrich Staudinger – the range of extraordinary appearances was wide. “But on Sunday we will also experience a generational conflict,” Haselmayer predicts, as Dominik Wlazny is the only candidate representing the “young target group”. All others, on the other hand, represent significantly older generations. The elderly would go to the polls more reliably, which would certainly benefit the incumbent – after all, the oldest candidate on the list of candidates.

Rosary in second place, discharge unlikely
If the younger people went to the polls in comparable numbers, Wlazny would have significantly more votes – even if its appeal is limited to urban areas. According to polls, Walter Rosenkranz will come in second, but with significantly fewer votes than his FPÖ currently has in polls, because the competition in the more right-wing spectrum of candidates is simply too great. Be that as it may, according to Haselmayer, it can be assumed that there will be no runoff. Where: You cannot exclude anything. Lots more exciting details in the video above.
