SPÖ leader also present – Van der Bellen at the end: ‘It’s not nothing’

Date:

The presidential election campaign is coming to an end. Most candidates held their last events on Friday. So is Alexander Van der Bellen. In the crowded Marx Palace in Vienna and supported by numerous political celebrities, the incumbent called on all supporters to actually vote, because; “Des is ka g’mahte Wies’n.” The goal is to get more votes on Sunday than all the other candidates combined. “It’s not nothing,” says Van der Bellen.

From a purely arithmetic point of view, it could be close, “not to say very close,” he paraphrased his own saying from the get-go. “If you care about democracy, about liberal democracy,” said the incumbent and former leader of the Greens Alexander Van der Bellen“then go to the polls”.

“It’s not about choosing a self-promoter”
It is not about him as a person, but about Austria and about guiding the country competently, clearly and resolutely through stormy times. “By the way, the election of the Federal President is not about choosing a self-portrait, or a chancellor or the government. It is about the election of a Federal President.”

Rendi-Wagner, Meinl-Reisinger, Ludwig, Häupl, …
There were a number of supporters in the crowd, and certainly not just Greens. Among them were SPÖ president Pamela Rendi-Wagner, NEOS boss Meinl-Reisinger, Green boss and vice chancellor Werner Kogler, club president Sigrid Maurer, Viennese mayor Michael Ludwig (SPÖ) and his predecessor Michael Häupl, LIF founder Heide Schmid or also ex-ÖVP Minister Maria Rauch-Kallat and the Styrian ex-governor Hermann Schützenhöfer (ÖVP). Beautiful messages came from VdB predecessor Heinz Fischer, Hollywood star Arnold Schwarzenegger and ÖGB boss Wolfgang Katzian.

Rosary at Viktor-Adler-Markt
The FPÖ candidate went to the traditional blue campaign patch Walter Rosencrantz. He invited his followers to the Viktor Adler market in Vienna. According to Rosencrantz, the only thing that connects him to Van der Bellen is love for four-legged friends, as the liberal emphasized in his speech: “Animal protection is also a matter close to my heart – but that’s where it ends.” The blue ombudsman wants to be emphasized how often during the election campaign that we must do everything differently and certainly not be a ‘deputy emperor’ in the Hofburg, but: ‘I want to be the first servant of this state’.

Incidentally, the event at Viktor-Adler-Markt was not the very last appearance of the FPÖ candidate before the elections. On Saturday he wants to set the mood again at a closing event in his hometown of Krems.

Wlazny: need for change”
Beer party boss Dominik Wlazny motivated his supporters Friday at Stephansplatz with a short, witty speech and loud rock music.

His motivation is the need for change. And he is the right Federal President, because he knows the country “and knows every pub in the country and the people sitting there.” He owns a business and has experience despite his young age.

Grosz: ‘The country is at a crossroads’
Gerard Gross was also in the city center, but already in the morning in the square in front of the President’s Office. He presented his campaign conclusion as a press conference. “Our country is at a crossroads on Sunday,” said the ex-FPÖ/BZÖ politician – who once again emphasized that he wanted to give the “establishment” a “note”.

Staudinger at home, Wallentin in Lugner City
Shoe producer committed in his native country Heinrich Staudinger his final. He invited people to the “Gastro Corner” of his furniture hall in Schrems (Lower Austria). Lawyer and ex-Krone columnist Tassilo Wallentin completed his last performance at the Oktoberfest in the city of Lugner in Vienna. MFG Boss Didn’t Make His Own Final Appearance Michael Brunner.
