The second dig in search of “Naparra” ends without success

Date:

“Now we are waiting for the official report, which, once ready, will be sent to the National Court. We don’t know exactly what this report will contain, we have to wait,” they explained at a press conference.

The foundation’s historian Iñaki Egaña Egiari Zor and “Naparra” brother Eneko Etxeberria appeared before the media on Friday to report on the second excavation carried out between April 22 and 24 in the Landes area in search of José Miguel Etxeberria (former member of the Autonomous Anti-Capitalist Command)

At the press conference they made it clear that this time the excavation had been fully carried out discretion. “In March we heard that the French army, under the supervision of the Gendarmerie, would reopen the investigation, this time in a limited area. For the first time we were there too“, have pointed out.

“For the first two days they dug in defined strips, at ground level, until they reached a layer that was slightly harder and deeper, but they found nothing. On the third day they completed the work,” they said.

‘Now we wait for the Official report, which, once completed, will be sent to the National Court. We do not know exactly what this report will contain, we must wait for the decision of Judge Ismael Moreno,” they explained.

“Naparra” was kidnapped and murdered on June 11, 1980, when he was 22 years old. The paramilitary group Batallón Vasco Español took over the kidnapping and murder.
