In a TV interview with Gerhard Koller, the highly committed environmental activist Lena Schilling found harsh words for the state of domestic climate policy: “The talks with high-ranking personalities from the city of Vienna after the demolition of our Lobau camp were pointless. we prevent the construction of the controversial city street, which cannot be called ‘autobahn’, while it is being built that way, but the city road will be built after the camp is evacuated.”
Overall, Austria is at a drastic point in the climate crisis, so further decisive action needs to be taken by climate defenders: “Putting climate on the street is not ideal. But an even worse course of action would be to do nothing,” said Schilling, who is also harshly attacking the federal government’s current policies: “Chancellor Nehammer’s recent car summit was a bad joke. And the domestic climate balance is also very disappointing.” The controversial environmental activist only praised the scrapping of the Lobau tunnel by Minister Leonore Gewessler.
