Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen has achieved his election goal – he was elected on Sunday by the first ballot for a second six-year term. The other candidates failed in their goal to force Van der Bellen to a second round. Here are the results in detail.
The presidential election is defeated and probably for good. Because according to forecasts, the incumbent Alexander Van der Bellen obtained a clear absolute majority, which made a second round in four weeks obsolete. Second place went to the PVV candidate, Walter Rosenkranz. Lawyer Tassilo Wallentin and Beer Party founder Dominik Wlazny compete for third place.
The results from Vienna to Grätzln and Sprengeln:
According to ARGE Wahlen, the turnout was 66.1 percent of eligible voters. That is not much lower than in the first vote in 2016 (68.5 percent).
