Date:

Historical. That is how family minister Susanne Raab refers to the investments that will soon flow into her areas of responsibility. Eight billion in 2023. From January 1, the inflation of family benefits will be adjusted annually – for the first time since its introduction in 1967.

“It’s a budget that’s higher than ever.” Raab is buzzing with numbers on Thursday:

  • Family benefits increased by 208 million
  • Childcare allowance increased by 49.2 million

In total, the government will pay around 337 million in 2023 and 3.3 billion in 2026. In total, 1.2 million families and 1.9 million children would benefit, it says. There are also 12.4 million more for textbooks – focus on digitization.

The women’s budget has more than doubled compared to 2019. To 24.3 million. The majority goes to protection against violence. “Central point of attention” is the expansion of childcare. “So that family and work can be better combined.”
