For the PVV, the current refugee crisis is apparently comparable to the ongoing corona pandemic. Party leader Herbert Kickl is now arguing for a so-called “Illegal Immigration and Asylum” dashboard, because: “What was possible with Corona on a daily basis, is discussed by Minister of the Interior (Gerhard, please note) Karner (ÖVP) once a week about illegal immigration and asylum – except he doesn’t want it.”
In the dashboard requested by Kickl, asylum applications are broken down by nationality, age, gender and state. “The least Austrians can expect right now is honesty and transparency,” the FPÖ leader justified his demand. With such a tool on the internet he also wants to know how many people smugglers have been arrested and how many people have been deported from the country with a legally binding negative asylum decision.
Kickl: Weekly update of the dashboard possible
Also of general interest to Kickl: “How many asylum seekers file a complaint after a negative decision by the Federal Office for Immigration and Asylum (BFA)? How many pending proceedings are there at the BFA and how many at the Federal Administrative Court? That is why, according to Kickl, at least a weekly update of the dashboard is possible.
“Step by step, Austria’s ÖVP and Greens have made it one of the top addresses for illegal immigrants from all over the world,” Kickl said. The ÖVP had “did everything it could to cover up the drama of the asylum crisis for as long as possible”.
