In a special session on November 2, the National Council will consider the recent statements by former Secretary General of the Ministry of Finance, Thomas Schmid, to the Public Prosecution Service for Economic Affairs and Corruption, in which he addressed several ÖVP politicians. The reason for this is a joint request from the SPÖ and FPÖ.
The two opposition parties demand a statement from Chancellor Karl Nehammer (ÖVP) in parliament. The debate on the expected urgent question or an alternative urgent motion should start next Wednesday at noon, National Council chairman Wolfgang Sobotka (ÖVP) said after deliberating in a special president.
The session will open three hours earlier, at 9 a.m., parliamentary correspondence reported on Monday. The SPÖ has already publicly announced that it will submit a new election proposal in the special session. It is already the third special session of the National Council since the start of the conference in September.
