It has been official since Thursday: on January 29, a new state parliament will be elected in Lower Austria. The List of People, Freedom and Fundamental Rights (MFG) may also want to participate, but it certainly wants to participate in the state elections.
The MFG list won a remarkable 6.23 percent in the state elections in Upper Austria last year. In the municipal elections in Waidhofen an der Ybbs earlier this year, no less than 17 percent. And with 2.99 percent, the list at least made it to the committee in the Krems polls on September 4. Despite the clear downward trend, the vaccination skeptics want to know and also “take part” in the state elections in Lower Austria.
Multiple options
What this means in detail was initially left open to the vaccine skeptics. You will “either get up yourself”, in any case “but support an action group”, it says on request. In addition, reference was made to “extensive preparatory work” already carried out in Lower Austria. This means that you can fall back on an operational board and many officials in the districts. A possible list of candidates will be compiled quickly if necessary, it is said.
It is not yet known with which action group the vaccination skeptics could collaborate. As the Krone reported, a hodgepodge of leftist movements and parties could also compete in state elections.
Long road to state parliament
In any case, the road for the MFG list to the state parliament will probably be a long one. A survey by the “Lower Austrian News” (“NÖN”) saw vaccination critics at three percent in late September – and thus below the four percent threshold needed to enter.
