“Form of terror” – FPÖ wants to crack down on climate activists

Date:

The FPÖ calls for stricter action by climate activists. Facing property damage and roadblocks, party leader Herbert Kickl and security spokesman Hannes Amesbauer are demanding harsher punishments and oversight of the “Last Generation” group by the Bureau for the Protection of the Constitution. The FPÖ plans to table motions to this effect at the meeting of the National Council next week.

In concrete terms, FPÖ leader Herbert Kickl wants paragraph 95 of the Penal Code to be tightened: in addition to “failing to provide assistance”, “impeding the provision of assistance” should also be punished with a maximum of six months in prison and a maximum of one year in the event of death .

“Nothing but a form of terror”
Referring to the death in Berlin, Kickl sharply criticized in a written statement: “The climate madness has finally turned to extremism and must be treated as such by the security authorities”, he turned against “completely crazy stabbings” that would put human lives at risk due to the blockage of emergency services. That was “nothing but a form of terror,” Kickl said.

“This extremism must be prevented from sliding into terrorism,” Amesbauer also called for “close” monitoring of the organizations behind it.
