Viennese FPÖ leader Dominik Nepp wrote an open letter to former ÖVP secretary general Laura Sachslehner. The 28-year-old councilor has recently criticized the coalition partner of the People’s Party in the federal government, the Greens, on several occasions, and has usually been reprimanded by her own party. In his letter, Nepp refers to three renegade ÖVPers who had defected to the FPÖ in the past. “You are free to take this step yourself,” Nepp emphasises.
According to Nepp, both Vienna’s ÖVP party leader Karl Mahrer and ÖVP club president Markus Wölbitsch dislike Sachslehner’s regular media interference.
Eikel to Sachslehner: “Understand if you are dissatisfied”
“I understand if you are dissatisfied with this situation, but I can assure you that nothing will change in the ÖVP because your Chancellor Karl Nehammer has surrendered skin and hair to the Greens,” Nepp writes to Sachslehner. And adds: “If you want to be consistent and be taken seriously, you will have to find a way out of this difficult situation. Because those who constantly vote against their own beliefs lose their credibility.”
Aigner, Stenzel, Kieslich: three defectors
He reminds the 28-year-old of the ex-ÖVP politicians Wolfgang Aigner, Ursula Stenzel and Wolfgang Kieslich. All three are now with the FPÖ. “They were in a similar situation to you in the ÖVP and therefore made a clear cut that they have never regretted. You are free to take this step yourself,” says Nepp.
