Many Austrians currently want a government of experts. According to former minister Wolfgang Peschorn, this is not surprising. The population craves clear announcements and actions.
The majority would like to exchange the current government for a government of experts. This is according to a recent survey by Gallup. After Ibiza 2019, Austria had an expert government that got more done than designed. Wolfgang Peschorn was the interior minister of this interim government, which was quite popular.
The research results come as no surprise to the head of the Finanzprokuratur: “People see experts as people who are up to their task and are not guided by non-state interests.” Administration and judiciary are the engine room of the state. “The events that have become known have reinforced the image that the engine room is in urgent need of maintenance,” says the Prosecutor of the Republic.
In order for the state to function efficiently again, it needs loyal and well-trained officials. Peschorn: “It must be understandable for everyone to achieve the goals. This creates the desire for clear statements and actions.”
