Vortex on SPÖ survey – Rendi-Wagner: “Don’t take Kurz’s example”

Date:

SPÖ federal party leader Pamela Rendi-Wagner is not impressed by the party leadership survey launched by the state organization Burgenland. “No, it doesn’t annoy or annoy me and there is no element of surprise involved. That’s how it was,” Rendi-Wagner said on Pulse 24 on Wednesday evening. By comparison, the SPÖ leader dismisses the fact that the research is reminiscent of times under Sebastian Kurz and his coup against ex-ÖVP boss Reinhold Mitterlehner: “You should not take Kurz’s example.”

She has been party leader of the SPÖ for four years. The latest survey, which the Burgenland SPÖ country leader Hans Peter Doskozil envisions, is “only one more”, there have already been 100 or more.

“The world today is like yesterday”
“Politics shouldn’t be too survey-based or gallop after it,” says Rendi-Wagner on the political TV show Milborn. You lose credibility if you do that. “The world is the same today as it was yesterday, not much has changed.”

In politics you have to have your goal in mind and say what you stand for. Her personal political orientation is not based on surveys “that look like this today and like this tomorrow”.

Rendi-Wagner deviates from the issue of fighting mood
“I was elected at two party congresses, I was confirmed by the members and I stood for a National Council election,” Rendi-Wagner is confident in her position. “I don’t shy away from voting.” When asked by moderator Corinna Milborn whether she would like to take part in a competitive vote in the party, the SPÖ politician did not answer explicitly.

SPÖ on Doskozil course?
Rendi-Wagner also sees the direction of the SPÖ in clear paths, which Doskozil also helped define: “We have a course, we don’t need a harder or softer one. We are the only ones who have had a course for four years. We let ourselves guided by a resolution of the Party Congress and the paper by Peter Kaiser and Hans Peter Doskozil.” In his “Krone” interview with Conny Bischofberger on Sunday, Doskozil called for a clearer asylum policy than Rendi-Wagner currently offers.

Salzburg’s SPÖ boss comes out as a Doskosil fan
After Doskozil had to listen to swear words from Upper Austria for the first time because of the survey launched for the upcoming top candidate in the National Council elections, the Salzburg party leader David Egger showed himself as a fan of the Burgenland on Wednesday: “Hans Peter Doskozil does a top job and hits the nail on the head with its clear social democratic politics,” he said in a media report.

With Rendi-Wagner you have an elected federal chairman, there are currently no national elections and the issue of the upcoming top candidate will be decided by the party committees, Egger also said.

“The issue of the top candidate will be clarified in the SPÖ within the relevant party committees when there are elections,” Carinthian SPÖ leader and governor Peter Kaiser said in writing. At the same time, he offered Doskozil to edit the asylum document jointly drafted under Christian Kern if his fellow governor wanted to emphasize it.

Vienna’s mayor Ludwig, meanwhile, supported Rendi-Wagner: “My opinion is known. Nothing has changed.” Most recently, the mayor had said in the “Welt” that the party leader without ifs and buts would also be the top candidate.
