On Tuesday, the social committee decided that pensioners who take care of their spouse or relatives at home will also receive the care bonus of 1,500 euros.
The care allowance for close relatives is now being expanded: pensioners who take care of their partner or other close relatives at home also receive the allowance of 1,500 euros. Previously, pensioners were not included in the package. ÖVP social spokesman August Wöginger told the “Krone”: “1500 euros are paid to caring relatives every year. It is important for us to support, because we know how challenging this task is.”
Different conditions
The requirements: The allowance is granted from care level 4. The starting date is July 1, 2023. Everyone has the right to submit an application – from the moment they provide the main care for a year and earn no more than 1500 euros net or receive a pension.
It had already been decided in the summer that people with voluntary follow-up insurance for surviving relatives would receive this allowance. An extra week of care will also be introduced for the fifth holiday week for carers over the age of 43. And for each night shift there is a two-hour time credit.
