The state elections in Salzburg in 2023 cast their shadow ahead. The elections will take place on April 23, 2023, according to a current investigation by IFDD for Puls24: Governor Wilfried Haslauer’s ÖVP is still in the lead despite a significant downside. SPÖ and FPÖ continue to catch up.
In 2018, the ÖVP was just under 38 percent. At a time when the People’s Party under Sebastian Kurz was rushing from victory to victory.
While the polls of the ÖVP have completely collapsed at the federal level and only third place would be possible at the moment, Schwarz is still ahead in Salzburg. A current IFDD study for Puls24 (800 respondents, period: 7 to 21 November 2022) shows: Wilfried Haslauer’s ÖVP is 31 percent – a decrease of 6.8 percentage points compared to 2018.
The SPÖ comes with top candidate David Egger at 25 percent, an increase of five percentage points.
The FPÖ is on record with Marlene Svazek – the current 21 percent (plus 2.2%) would allow freedom to jump over the 20 percent mark for the first time in Salzburg. There is currently no movement among the Greens (9 percent, minus 0.3) and Neos (8 percent, plus 0.7). The MFG comes to 2, the KPÖ plus one percent.
Interesting: If the provincial governor or the provincial governor could be directly elected, Wilfried Haslauer would get 36 percent. So five more than his party. And: Marlene Svazek (26 percent) is ahead of David Egger (22 percent).
Martina Berthold (Greens) would get 7 percent, Kay-Michael Dankl (KPÖ plus) is even ahead of Neos State Councilor Andrea Klambauer (4 percent) with five percent.
