In a statement, the People’s Initiative reported meeting with Itxaso to demand “the whole truth” about what happened. As they have indicated, they reminded Itxaso that both the Basque and Navarrese governments saw Zabalza as a victim and sole the Spanish state continues to support “the official truth”.. In this sense, they called for “political will” to seek new evidence.
Itxaso, who in 2010 took part in an act of tribute to Zabalza convened “in a personal capacity” by the San Sebastian City Council, confessed that “these are difficult times” but that he will try to “make progress” on the matter .
