A difficult year is coming to an end. For politicians, it meant more affairs and a dramatic loss of confidence. Philosopher Konrad Paul Liessmann thinks about the major problem areas.
“crown”: We are going through a phase of crisis. Also in political culture. Keyword chats and loss of trust. How can that be assessed?
Conrad Paul Liessmann: I don’t think politicians used to have much more respect for each other. I remember the election campaigns in the 1960s and 1970s: that was pure class struggle. Back in the day, however, there were no smartphones. For example, we do not know what happened behind closed doors with the social partners. It must be admitted, however, that the way people communicated and interacted with political opponents, and the dishonest means used to push their own intentions, left a strong negative impression.
