The payment of the health care allowance is a mess. Changing jobs reduces the bonus, working part-time is also a disadvantage.
The Nurse Perk turns into a hot potato. Social Affairs Minister Johannes Rauch of the Greens does not see himself responsible for the chaos in the payment of the wage subsidy and plays the ball to the federal states. The federal government makes 570 million euros available to the federal states. It is their responsibility to “pay out the money fairly”. Countries are free to pay out the full bonus to those who change jobs. Accordingly, Rauch sees states as responsible for correcting injustices.
Overtime is not taken into account
SPÖ social spokesman Josef Muchitsch accuses Rauch of not setting clear lines for payment and thus creating a mess. Nurses who change employers during the year lose part of the subsidy. Part-time workers are also disadvantaged. Depending on the number of hours, your allowance will be calculated pro rata. Overtime is not counted, although part-time workers work an average of 20 percent more than contractually agreed.
By 2023, these problems should no longer exist. The subsidy is paid monthly as part of the salary. Whether that actually works remains to be seen. The modalities for this new payout method have not yet been clarified, although it is already January.
