The election campaign in Lower Austria has been enriched with a curious facet. FPÖ candidate Ina Aigner is now messing with her own top candidate Udo Landbauer – and openly campaigning for ÖVP governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner. The blue state party does not shed a tear for the state parliamentarian, but that is not the only reason.
“I have not taken my statements lightly, but I want to tell the truth,” with these dramatic words FPÖ MP Ina Aigner introduced a video message that has it all. In the almost one and a half minute long video, the candidate settles with the FPÖ top candidate Udo Landbauer.
“Arrogant and Hungry for Power”
“I have always wanted to make a difference. But that was not possible with Udo Landbauer. Other ideas and opinions will not be accepted or supported. I don’t want anything to do with that style anymore,” she says. Landbauer is “arrogant and overbearing and greedy for power,” the state blue party is no longer what it was under state councilor Gottfried Waldhäusl, Aigner added.
In fact, at the end of the video she even calls for support for ÖVP governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner. “As a Lower Austrian and especially as a mother, she has my support in this choice,” explains the PVV.
How the state party opposes
In the FPÖ, the appearance is relatively relaxed. “Ms. Aigner was voted out as district president by her members in the Korneuburg district months ago and therefore no longer played a role in the state election team. Travelers should never be stopped, we wish Ms. Aigner all the best for her personal future,” said the blue party headquarters when requested by “Krone”.
There they may have disagreed with the work ethic of the members of the state parliament. She wrote only 13 press releases in the past five years.
