Germany announced yesterday that it will send Leopard tanks to Ukraine after confirming to the United States that it will do the same with the Abrams. Spain is the third European country with the most Leopard tanks and in this context, the Secretary General of the Basque PP has urged Pedro Sánchez to “seize the opportunity”.

In an interview given to Radio Euskadi’s “Boulevard” program, Laura Garrido has encouraged the President of the Spanish Government to get together with the countries of the European Union. “You have to help Ukraine, because there is a lot at stake,” he said, adding that it is necessary to help the population.

In another order of business, Laura Garrido has referred to the ruling of a court in Vitoria-Gasteiz that has ordered the relocation of people who aspire to the local police and have not accredited the B2 level of Basque. The MP for Álava is committed to what she has called “warm bilingualism” and has asked that the “partisan use of Basque” be put aside. In his view, the “excessive demand ends up doing Basque a disservice: in the end, people are Basque agents to accredit a linguistic profile and get a job and then fail to speak it”.

At the same time, it has recognized that a person’s right to be attended in Basque must be guaranteed in the administration. In any case, he argues for planning based on the language situation and has cited Vitoria-Gasteiz, where “the demand for Basque is very low”, and on the contrary Goierri and Oiartzun.
