The service was launched at the request of the speaker of parliament, Roberta Metsola, and his secretary-general, Klaus Welle, after Metsola himself said on Tuesday it was “completely” confident that allegations of government espionage will be investigated. exhaustive” way.

The verification of the device, adds Parliament’s post, will be carried out in the presence of its owner and can be carried out in the offices of the IT services of the European Parliament in Brussels or Strasbourg (France) or in the offices of the MEPs themselves.

The duration of the initial analysis depends on the amount of data on the mobile and will take at least 30 minutes, and depending on the result, “a detailed security analysis that takes more time” may be required.
