Pere Aragonès warns that the Spanish government could fall if it does not take responsibility

Date:

The President of the Generalitat believes that in other European countries a case of espionage of these characteristics would lead to the resignation of some members of the government and even to the fall of the government. In addition, he finds the statements of the Minister of Defense “inadequate”.

The President of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonesbelieves that the Spanish government “could fall” if it does not respond “adequately” to the case of political espionage through the ‘Pegasus’ programme.

“In the governments of our european environmenta case of these characteristics might lead to the downfall of some members of the government Yes if no adequate answer is given, of the government as a whole“, he stated this Thursday in an interview on Canal 24 Horas de TVE.

Aragonese see “apart from insufficiently counterproductive” the statements of the Minister of Defense of the Spanish Government, Margarita Robles, on this matter and stressed that the appearance referred to by the Sánchez government for explanation was already planned for other matters.

In this sense, he has criticized the “news blackout” by the Spanish government in the case of alleged espionage. At this point — he said — he has no information to confirm whether the Executive was aware of these cases or not.

Asked whether the independence movement can resume the unilateral way in this situation, he replied: “We are absolutely committed, and I speak on behalf of the government and my party, with a process of political negotiation.” However, he has warned that these negotiations require minimum trust conditions and added that ERC’s support in the General Court is at risk.
