Congress will pass this Tuesday to pass the law to abolish prostitution with the support of Podemos and PP

Date:

The PSOE proposal includes the change so that pimping is “generally sanctioned, without requiring an exploitative relationship”. On the contrary, the text will not contain any measures to ban pornography.

The plenary session of Congress this Tuesday will pass the consideration of the bill to abolish prostitution promoted by the PSOE and that includes, in majority, the amendment that the Socialists have tabled to the Act of Guarantees of Sexual Freedom, known as law ‘only yes is yes’

The PP already announced a week ago that it supports this procedure and Podemos has waited this Monday to confirm that it will also vote in the House of Representatives for its processing.

However, the Catalan confluence of United We Can (comuns) maintains a position more amenable to prostitution regulation positions, and does not disclose the direction of the vote at this time to facilitate the processing of this proposal, as explained by various confederal space sources.

The proposal that the PSOE takes into its debate in plenary includes the amendment of theArticle 187 of the Criminal Code so that it “generally penalizes pimping, without requiring an exploitative relationship”.

With this change, a fine of imprisonment of 3 to 6 years and a fine of 18 to 24 months which, by using violence, intimidation or abuse of a situation of superiority, or of distress or vulnerability of the victim, determines a person to work or remain in prostitution.

This account also recovers the locative third party What a disgrace to those who, for profit and on a regular basis, transfer real estate or premises to promote the practice of prostitution. That is, to the owners of the clubs, buildings and flats where women practice this practice.

I know it too nice customers of prostitution. According to the text in the explanatory memorandum, “people who take refuge with women in a prostitution situation participate directly in the framework that perpetuates this grave violation of human rights.”

“These people represent the condition that prostitution can take place,” declared the PSOE, proposing a “criminal charge” for these people: a fine from 12 to 24 monthsleading to a prison term of 1 to 3 years and a fine of 24 to 48 months if the person performing the sexual act is a minor.

However, the text does not contain measures to: ban porndespite claims made in this regard by part of the feminist movement in Spain.

In the debate on the ‘only yes is yes’ Act, from which the PSOE text begins, ERC, PNV, EH Bildu, Citizens of CUP they threatened not to approve the full text if it included this PSOE initiative, which would continue with PP support.

These formations have championed the need to address sexual exploitation in a calmer debate and guarantee the rights of women who freely engage in prostitution.
