An increase of 8.6 percent is imminent
If the government does nothing, an 8.6 percent increase in benchmark rents for old buildings is due on April 1. A sticking point in the negotiations so far was that the People’s Party wanted to combine the rent brake with a transfer tax exemption of 500,000 euros, which the Greens did not like.
It is important to the ÖVP that measures related to a restructuring offensive are also being negotiated, and Brunner confirmed that ownership is a concern of the People’s Party.
