Police alert early Wednesday afternoon in Innsbruck: An anonymous caller stated that a man in a social facility stood with a long gun in front of the window and shouted wildly. Several patrols and also the Cobra special unit moved in. The all-clear could be given provisionally.
Police received the call around 12:30 p.m. “The call came from a phone booth,” police spokesman Christian Viehweider told the “Krone”. The caller stated that a man with a gun allegedly looked out the window at Innsbruck’s Haydnplatz and screamed wildly.
Name a specific room number
According to Viehweider, the mysterious caller also gave a specific apartment or room number. According to information from “Krone”, the affected building should be a social facility.
Room was empty, no contact with caller
Several police patrols, the rapid intervention group (SIG) and the special task force Cobra immediately moved in. “The said room was empty,” the police spokesman continued. There is no contact with the caller. “So it is still unclear whether this actually happened.” Further research is underway.
