Podemos Euskadi, Ezker Anitza-IU, Alianza Verde and Berdeak Equo will jointly contest the municipal and regional elections on May 28 in the Basque Country following the agreement reached with the latter formation to be part of the coalition.
“In this way, a joint candidacy of the Basque progressive and environmentalist left is consolidated to offer citizens a more just, feminist and ecological land project,” they reported in a press release.
“The four forces come together to broaden and renew the political space within a project of social transformation that will work to continue to win rights in the cities and areas of the Basque Country,” they stressed.
“Euskadi is witnessing a loss of civil rights due to privatization policies that worsen public services like Osakidetza,” they have denounced.
In the face of this dire situation, the unitary project of the Basque left is the only alternative capable of transforming reality in favor of the bourgeoisie and reclaiming the welfare state from a firm commitment to a public, egalitarian, feminist and environmental model that delves into wealth redistribution and fiscal justice,” they added.
