Is the Upper Austrian energy plan sufficient? – Voest alone needs power from 1,400 wind turbines

Date:

After being repeatedly accused of stalling on climate protection, the black-blue coalition in Upper Austria has now pushed through to a green energy expansion offensive. Will the announced projects provide the decisive turning point? Or is the “bang” about solar and wind energy just a lukewarm fan?

LH Thomas Stelzer (ÖVP) described the recently presented expansion offensive in photovoltaic (PV) and wind energy as a “bang”. As reported, existing wind farms will be renovated and expanded by 2030 and an additional 200 gigawatt hours (GWh) of electricity will be produced by new PV systems. Green leader Stefan Kaineder immediately denounced the program as a “blockade” of climate change.
