Tyrolean Test Strategy – Fall Lab Truck: Allegations vanished into thin air

Date:

What the founder of the company, Ralf Herwig, prophesied in the “Krone” has now come true: A preliminary report from the Tyrolean state audit shows that the implementation of the state’s testing strategy has worked well. The country even saved itself a lot of money.

The corona PCR test offensive in the fall of 2020 is still having an aftermath today. The then LH Günther Platter quickly implemented federal regulations – without an EU-wide tender. The “second wave” was just building up, time is running out.

The state government has commissioned HG Pharma and its subsidiary HG Lab Truck GmbH for extensive testing by emergency ordinance. However, their boss and co-founder Ralf Herwig was not without controversy: as a urologist, a lawsuit was pending against him.

WKStA Enabled – No Investigations
Six months later, in May 2021, Platter said in a heated atmosphere in the state parliament that the second wave had survived so well because the test results were fast. Main responsible for this: HG Pharma. But just then Herwig was found guilty of mistreating a patient by the Supreme Court. As a result, new allegations against HG Pharma continued to emerge. The tests were not carried out properly and professionally, it says, among other things. The WKStA was on – not even recognizing an initial suspicion.

Herwig under fire, his family also suffered
Nevertheless, the ÖVP, SPÖ, Greens and NEOS pushed through a special audit by the state audit. FP and List Fritz would have preferred the Federal Court of Auditors. A first report is available almost two years later. “It will turn out that everything was right,” said Ralf Herwig in June 2021 in the “Krone”, the only medium that offered him extensive space for comment. He should be right: the Court of Audit’s rough report is a sort of “first-class acquittal”. The country reportedly saved 10 million euros by awarding the contract to HG Pharma.

The normal price for private PCR tests at the time was 120 euros, HG Pharma offered the same service to the state for 38.50 euros – with a success rate of almost 100 percent. In addition, the results were available much faster than before. The bottom line is that there is nothing left of the allegations with which Herwig was bombarded in the media. “We have always acted in accordance with the law and have done our part to fight the pandemic,” he stressed.
