The parliamentarian from Geroa Bai has strongly criticized the bill that the socialists have submitted to the regional parliament. In his opinion, “they want to convert English into the Navarrese language” with the opposite view of the trade union majority and government partners.

The parliamentarian of Geroa Bai, Maria Solanahas denounced that the PSN de English curriculum MYP in Navarre only “because of Euskaraphobia”. The trade union majority, the partners of the tripartite government Geroa Bai and Podemos Ahal Dugu as well as EH Bildu and IE opposed the text, which will be discussed today in the parliament of Navarra.
As explained by Abertzale’s parliamentarian in an interview with Euskadi Irratia’s “Faktoria” program, “the PSOE has a very opposing view on the PAI program and other similar programs in the state, except in Navarre. Why? Because of Basque. What is not given in the state? will be implanted in Navarre due to Euskaraphobia”.
The UPN government established the PAI teaching program in English (40% of the subjects taught in a foreign language) in the Autonomous Community in the 2011-2012 academic year and it is currently implemented in 116 centers. The management of María Chivite has argued that the bill introduced “urgently” in the Chamber aims to end the high temporary nature of teachers in this program (about 70%), although according to Geroa Bai the real reason “Basque phobia”.
