Ex-chancellor Sebastian Kurz (ÖVP) apparently has no plans for a political comeback. “Ten years in the federal government – I think I’ve done my part,” the politician, who is currently an entrepreneur, said on Sunday evening. He was very happy “with what I’m doing now”.
When asked about a possible charge against him in connection with the advertising affair, Kurz was relaxed in the ORF program “Im Zentrum”: “I’m glad if it finally happened”. There may be a court ruling for him and then it will be clear “that these allegations were false”.
Kurz was invited to the program on the subject “Europe is hanging by a thread – how big is China’s power?” as a panelist. In the discussion about China, Kurz supported, among others, French President Emmanuel Macron, whose recent statements about more independence for Europe from the United States had been criticized on several occasions. Regarding the China-Taiwan conflict, Kurz said de-escalation was “more than appropriate”. The EU is doing the right thing by “not trying to add fuel to the fire” in this conflict.
