“Elephant Round” – Salzburg state elections: showdown at the “Krone”

It will be decided on Sunday how the Salzburg state parliament will be composed for the next five years. Who wins? who loses Who wins in the state parliament?

In order to present themselves to a large audience and win the voters’ favor, the top candidates of the Salzburg state parliament parties debate in the “Krone” elephant round. Provincial Governor Wilfried Haslauer (ÖVP), Provincial Councilor Martina Berthold (Greens), Provincial Councilor Andrea Klambauer (Neos), FPÖ leader Marlene Svazek and SPÖ top candidate David Egger will comment on the most important topics in the state and answer the moderators’ questions.

It will be about crisis policy in the corona pandemic – David Egger recently threw petrol on the fire again – and about the climate crisis. When it comes to greenhouse gas emissions, Salzburg ranks bottom in a comparison of the federal states. There are also no wind turbines in Salzburg. There is also a need for quick solutions to inflation and the cost-of-living crisis, which has already reached a scale that threatens the survival of many people.

Much attention will be paid to housing. Salzburg has reached the top in terms of rental prices in Austria in recent years and the dream of owning a property has also become an unattainable distance for most Salzburgers.
