The leader of the PSE-EE says that the PNV was already aware of the socialists’ “differences” with the education bill, as Mendia handed it over to the Lehendakari. However, he advocates dialogue and believes that there will be an opportunity to “correct” these issues “hand in hand with the PNV”.
After the adoption of the draft law on education in the government council and the criticism of the PSE-EE, a minority partner of the executive, on several issues of the same, the secretary general of the PSE-EE, Eneko Andueza, announced today that they will try to “shield the current language models and make them explicit in the new law” during its processing. They will, he specified, “Hand in hand with the PNV”through “dialogue and consensus” with its partner and with the rest of the parties that supported the basic agreement.
Anyway, does not rule out where the socialists come modify the rule or resort to other options if they perceive there is a “deviation” in the parliamentary path. “We will not allow it to serve for some to continue to make progress in national construction exclusively for nationalists,” he warned.
Andueza pointed this out during an informative breakfast in Bilbao the PNV knew the “differences” of the socialists -Bildarratz has shown “surprise” -, since the deputy elehendakari Idoia Mendia thus handed them over to the lehendakari Iñigo Urkullu on the eve of the governing council.
According to Andueza, the Socialists continue to champion the need for an educational standard “that focuses on the things that really matter: equal opportunity and, above all, the possibility for students to achieve higher and better achievements.”
“That was the reason why we signed the basic agreement and why we did not want to hinder yesterday the adoption of the education law project that was discussed in the Basque government council. We understand that the parliamentary process also opens the possibility to resolve some issues with which we do not agree” he added.
The socialist leader stressed that the PSE-EE “will act responsibly and with an outstretched hand and with the will to reach an agreement.
