Although the Carinthian Greens, led by top candidate Olga Voglauer, failed to re-enter the state parliament in the state elections, there were no personnel debates. Now Voglauer has even been promoted. It will take over the political agendas of the General Secretariat of the Federal Party with immediate effect.
Federal spokesman Werner Kogler presented the 42-year-old Carinthian Slovenian and organic farmer as the best person to fill the post, which had been vacant for a long time. She will make her contribution with “commitment, heart and brain”. The confidence that Voglauer already exuded on election night in Carinthia on March 5 – despite not being able to get into the Carinthian state parliament – is exactly what the General Secretariat needs. Her strong voice will contrast with the current “blurring in the political arena”.
Kogler presented numerous roses to Voglauer, who is also on the National Council, emphasizing during the press conference, “I can’t imagine anyone better. Let’s do it. Let’s go!”
What does politics have to do with an organic farm?
The new secretary-general gratefully received the words of praise in advance and did not shy away from compliments: “I will be part of a great team.” Voglauer also briefly explained what she intends to do with it: every day she finds new hope and gains confidence, that’s what you have to do in politics.
new elections? “There is still plenty to do”
Neither Voglauer nor Kogler wanted to know about early elections at the federal level. They said in unison, “There’s still plenty to do.” The Carinthian explained the balancing act that her company now had to perform: “One is to take political responsibility in government now, and the other is to strengthen national organizations.”
