The representatives of the disabled are very dismayed after the “ZiB 2” interview with Governor Hans Peter Doskosil on Tuesday evening. There, moderator Armin Wolf once again addressed the SPÖ politician to critics who were skeptical about his vote during election campaigns. This is “a disgrace” and unacceptable, according to ÖZIV Burgenland, an advocacy organization for people with disabilities.
No one should be discriminated against because of their disability, this should also be an example of the highest authorities and media representatives, demanded ÖZIV Burgenland President Hans-Jürgen Groß, emphasizing: “A voice alone does not give information about someone’s skills and talents, just as little as any other form of disability.”
Five operations on the larynx
Due to an illness, Doskozi has already had to undergo five operations on the larynx. Incidentally, Doskozil dismissed concerns about the staying power of his voice in the ORF studio: “I won an election with this vote.” The hardships of recent weeks have also been comparable to a nationwide election campaign. Ultimately, however, the voters must decide whether they are up to this “challenge”. First, the 52-year-old must survive the vote of the SPÖ deputies.
Showdown at the party congress in Linz
The SPÖ must wait until next Saturday to get certainty about who will lead them into the future. After more than heated committee meetings, the Social Democrats decided to stick to the original plan and decide on the chairmanship of an extraordinary party congress in Linz. The winner of the member survey, Doskozil, and Andreas Babler, who came in second, are the candidates. Still-incumbent party leader Pamela Rendi-Wagner announced her withdrawal from the top Social Democrat position after the results of the inquiry were released.
