Talk to Katia Wagner – the voice of Doskozil? “Won’t Hurt Him”

Date:

In Krone.tv’s conversation with Katia Wagner, not only the result of the party congress is discussed, but also the voice of the Burgenland governor Hans-Peter Doskozil. Political expert Hans Mahr believes: “That may hinder him somewhat in the election campaign. But it will not harm him.”

“The Austrians understand a health problem,” explains Mahr. PR consultant Josef “Joe” Kalina continues, “It doesn’t stop you from exercising your office.” In Germany there is at least one example: after the German Interior Minister, Wolfgang Schäuble, was confined to a wheelchair, he “became a problem at first”, but it “didn’t hurt him in any way”.

When can we roll out the blue and black carpet…
Of course, the different constellations are also a problem. For journalist Erich Vogl, it would be “the best solution for the SPÖ” if Hans-Peter Doskozil asserts himself as party leader and Andreas Babler comes on board “in an important position”. This variant would have “good prospects” for the upcoming National Council elections. If the SPÖ does not recover quickly, “we can slowly roll the blue-black carpet towards Rathausplatz”.

Kern: “Look at the dilettantes of the FPÖ”
In any case, the resignation of Pamela Rendi-Wagner was a realistic dismissal. “These were four wasted years,” summarizes Niko Kern, co-founder of the “section without a name”. In his eyes, the choice of her successor had become a ‘circus’. He thinks that a well-positioned SPÖ with a Doskozil at the top will cost the FPÖ votes. Because: “Look at the dilettantes in the FPÖ leadership. You cannot seriously entrust them with the leadership of this country,” says the eloquent son of former chancellor Christian Kern.

“Do not rule out that Babler will still make it”
The former campaign manager of SPÖ chancellor Bruno Kreisky, Hans Mahr, thinks that Andreas Babler also has a good chance of becoming party chairman. “He can do something, he has something. I don’t rule out that he will still make it,” says Mahr. That the mayor of Vienna, Michael Ludwig, becomes the king maker and prevents Doskozil, as a well-known supporter of Rendi-Wagner, from doing so? “I don’t believe that. Michael Ludwig’s support is due to a clear motive. And that is loyalty to the chairman,” said Joe Kalina.
