“The third ways to exclude the place that the polls have given to EH Bildu only lead to governments from the right,” said the coalition candidate for mayor of Pamplona.
The EH Bildu candidate for mayor of Pamplona, Joseba Asironthis Tuesday excluded “third ways” that do not respect the “fundamental democratic principle of elevating the most voted progressive force to the office of mayor”, because “third ways that exclude the place that the polls have given to EH Bildu only carry governments of the right.
Asiron has appeared at a press conference after the socialist candidate’s statements, Elma Saizon the option that EH Bildu should support a government of PSN, Geroa Bai and Contigo Navarra, explaining that “third ways are not and will not be on the table”, in addition to ensuring that this will be his position “until the last minute”.
The coalition candidate reports that contacts have already been made to arrive at the formation of a progressive municipal council. “Pamplona will have the most progressive company in its history, no one would understand that the government on the right is being given up. If someone is tempted, he will have to look the audience in the eye and explain why what is good for other institutions is not good for Pamplona. I don’t think even the party’s base believes it,” he said.
Asiron has stressed that over the last four years of the opposition, EH Bildu, Geroa Bai and PSN have shown that agreements can be reached and acted generously as “95% of statements have been approved by the unit through three”.
The former mayor did not want to clarify what will happen in Navarre’s government if the PSN does not support him to become mayor, but he explained that “it makes no sense to exclude 27% of the population of Pamplona, who have voted for EH Bildu”.
minimal program
Asiron has proposed a “minimum program” in which all progressive parties agree to form a government and has pointed out that “Pamplona is a plural city” and that it will open the doors of the government to all progressive party sensibilities”.
