New campaign – Stop Frenzy: “Full Alive instead of Full Gas”

Date:

Excessive speed is one of the main causes of road accidents in Austria. The group of young men between the ages of 17 and 24 is statistically often affected in particular. With a targeted campaign, they now want to raise awareness – with messages such as “Full life instead of full gas”.

Analyzes by the German Road Safety Council (KfV) show that young men in particular tend to drive fast – with serious consequences: every in four fatal speeding accidents involving a car is caused by a male driver between the ages of 17 and 17, according to the KfV. 24 years director Christian Schimanofsky. They are also over-represented in the road fatality statistics, even though they only make up six percent of the total population. Almost a third of all fatal road accidents occur in this population group.

The situation is particularly dangerous in rural areas. According to the KfV, three-quarters of all fatalities die in speeding accidents on provincial roads. The permitted maximum speeds are therefore exceeded, especially at weekends and at night.

€3.5 million for “Fully Alive…”
With the campaign of 3.5 million euros, which includes radio and cinema spots, highway posters and social media activities, the Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management and the KfV want to create more awareness of the problem. “It is an appeal to joie de vivre. We want to remind young people how beautiful life is and that it is too good to risk. The campaign deliberately does not work with the index finger raised,” said Transport Minister Leonore Gewessler (Greens). Messages are for example “Full life instead of full throttle” or “Full life instead of full on the turn”.
